The AOGKF hosts several training camps (Gasshuku) and tournaments each year. In addition to this AOGKF hosts and participates in International events for IOGKF International.

May 2019



May 24-25, 2019 - Canberra, ACT

The AOGKF annual Black and Brown Belt Gasshuku has gone through revamp in 2019. All sessions of the Gasshuku, including the Friday evening, will be open to all Black and Brown Belt grades. Sensei Joe Roses and the AOGKF Executive Committee will lead all the sessions which will include All grades, group training, a specialty seminar classes and of course our annual up to 3rd Dan grading test. Registration will be completed by paper form this year and forms can be collected from your Dojo instructor. These must be returned to your Sensei by May 17th, 2019. A basic timetable of events has been listed below, along with maps to our venues and more.

The IOGKF World Budosai, scheduled for 2020 has been brought forward to July 2019 to coincide with the 40th anniversary for IOGKF International. The event will include 5 days of training from the Worlds best IOGKF Sensei, including Master Higaonna. There will also be a masters demonstration and several parties, tours and social events. 2019 AOGKF National Gasshuku & Friendship Tournament


November 1-3, 2019 - Canberra, ACT

Featuring: Sensei Kazuo Terauchi - 9th Dan - IOGKF Japan

Due to the IOGKF World Budosai trip to Okinawa, the AOGKF will combine it's two largest annual events into a massive weekend. The Canberra Traditional Karate Centres will host both the 2019 AOGKF National Gasshuku and 7th annual AOGKF Friendship Tournament over the course of three days. Special guest for this event will be Sensei Kazuo Terauchi, 9th Dan Black Belt and former all Japan tournament champion. He will be accompanied by Sensei Joseph Tait - 6th Dan, who has lived and breathed Karate in Japan for over 20 years. A Black and Brown Belt Gasshuku will held on November 1st, an all grades Gasshuku on November 2nd and the AOGKF annual friendship tournament on November 3rd.

Featuring: Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura - IOGKF World Chief Instructor.

The world's foremost authority in Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate will travel to Goulburn in October 2021 to lead our National Gasshuku. Nakamura Sensei is the heir to Goju-ryu Karate in the direct line to the founder, Master Miyagi.
