In 2025, the AOGKF National Gasshuku will go to Wollongong, NSW for the first time ever! The Illawarra Karate Dojo and Family Fitness Centre team, under the leadership of Sensei Mitchell Hill, will be organising this event in a truly unique location with plenty to see and do for the whole family.
The Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort will be the training venue of choice. With a huge hall covered fully in martial arts mats and multiple breakout rooms, this location in the perfect choice for the National Gasshuku. Along with this, the venue and affordable accommodation options on site are located on a private beach! Participants also have access to swimming pools, parks and other recreational activities.
The event will be headed by Sensei Joe Roses - IOGKF 8th Dan and International Advisor. He will assisted by Sensei David Lambert - IOGKF 5th Dan and IOGKF Mentorship Committee Member. Also attending as a special guest in 2025 will be Sensei Jorge Monteiro Jr, IOGKF 4th Dan from Portgual.
The event will be held over three days from October 31-November 2, 2025. There will be training options on all three days, with out National Championship finals to be held on the Sunday afternoon. On Saturday evening there will be our annual Karate Party Dinner held at Collegians club, only a short drive for the training venue, in a huge private function room.
One of the highlights of the event will be the Saturday afternoon where we will host a beach training session on a private beach! You'll get wet and you'll have a lot of fun! So much effort has been put into this event and we hope you will join us in beautiful Wollongong, NSW for this exciting event!

Directly across the road the from training venue the Towardgi Beach Hotel has a small number of rooms available for singles and doubles. It also has its own bar and resturant. Bookings can be made via their website.
You can stay onsite at the Gasshuku venue in shared accommodation options. Ideal for families or groups wishing to stay together. To book the cabins and see the what options are available, please visit the WSLR website.
A five minute drive away from the Gasshuku venue, the Nightcap at the Charles Hotel offers nice hotel room style accommodation options for singles, couples and families. You cand book directly on the hotels website.

Our biggest social event of the year! The AOGKF Karate Party will be held at Collegians. Enjoy at three course dinner, games, dancing and more, along with black belt grading certificate presentations and awards.
